Industrial Designs

The Industrial Design Law of 7 July 2003 provides protection for the visual appearance or ornamental features of a product (the appearance of part or the whole of an item defined in two dimensions, such as the pattern on a tie or a tile, or in three dimensions, such as the body of a car, a toy or a package).

The protection —which covers what used to be two types of industrial property: industrial model and industrial drawing— is granted for successive periods of five years, up to a maximum of twenty-five.
